RYO SHIOTANI

Ryo Shiotani / Painter

Realism Beyond Sight.

Reinterpreting reality through classical mastery and a contemporary vision.

Grounded in prolonged observation, the work aims to render not only visible reality but also light, atmosphere, and the quiet presence that dwells in a place.

By infusing Western classical oil layering with an Eastern sensibility, each painting records time and thought as physical layers, establishing an independent, living presence.

Works

Most works reside in private and museum collections. The following is an archive of the practice — a continuous body of work that singles out no one painting as representative.

Through careful observation of nature and the human figure, I seek to capture visible forms together with light, atmosphere, and the presence that lingers about them.

Drawing on the techniques of classical painting, I reconstruct reality through my own sensibility.
